I’ve had my sights on hiking a mountain called Pedra da Gavea that can be seen from the common room at the Connection Rio house and took 3 of the guys from the house with me to the hike. I was accompanied by Sasha (Russia), Dan (who arrived 2 days prior from the UK), and Bek (who arrived the day before from Kazakhstan). Hiking mountain trails are my next favorite hobby after jiu jitsu so it was only a matter of time before I headed up the trails for the peak.
The hike itself takes about 2 hours of rigorous hiking to get to the top and the trail is tiring because it is consistently at an incline on the way up. We took a few breaks along the way but kept a pretty good pace to the top. There are some minor rock scrambles along the way but nothing compares to the danger that the final climb to the peak presents for those who are willing to take the challenge.
