Obviously we think Rio is the best place in the world! But there is much more to Brazil than just one city, and if you want to check it out then Rio is the perfect place to start.
Many Connection Rio guests will use our hostel as a launchpad for visiting different locations, whether to train jiu-jitsu or to just experience something different.
Of these locations, the following are by far the most popular so here’s a little information about each.
There is the nearby town of Buzios, a beautiful place on the coast around 140km from Rio de Janeiro. Known for it’s charming coves and beaches, it’s a popular destination for both locals and tourists.
It’s the perfect place to spend a few days relaxing and offers a different pace of life to Rio. There are lots of small pousadas (bed and breakfasts) in Buzios, but it gets busy during holiday seasons so be sure to check far in advance.
Buzios is also the home to a number of jiu-jitsu clubs and tournaments. Keep an eye on our website for updates.
Brazil’s biggest city is a massive metropolis with towering buildings and massive freeways.
It doesn’t have the beaches or greenery like Rio and so struggles to attract tourists. But there’s no reason you shouldn’t consider a visit. There are many amazing jiu-jitsu clubs in Sao Paulo, and the city has a buzzing nightlife.
Connection Rio has helped many people organise travel between Rio and Sao Paulo. Ask us how we can help.
