Englishman Lee Wright came to Rio de Janeiro as a blue belt, but left with the ‘faixa roxa’ around his waist after proving himself in 6 months of hard training. Lee was out first sponsored athlete of the 2012-2013 intake.

Lee came from a small club in Portsmouth in the UK and needed somewhere he could elevate his game. He chose to come and train jiu-jitsu in Rio de Janeiro, once in 2010 and again in 2012-13. His time in Brazil gave him access to many high level training partners and teachers, and he went home in February of 2013 with plenty of experience to share with his training partners back home.
