The Rio Open IBJJF Championship and the International Master & Senior Jiu-Jitsu Championship happen at the same time, making this both a domestic and international tournament. It attracts the best in Brazilian talent to compete in one of the most competitive tournaments in Brazil, as well as many masters and seniors who until just last year considered this event to be much like their own version of the World Championships.

Connection Rio always hosts many grapplers who travel here specifically for the purpose of competing in the Rio Open IBJJF Championship, and we already have a good team of guys preparing for the competition, which is one month away.

Dennis Asche, BJJ black belt and Connection Rio founder, has been pushing the guys in his afternoon ‘gringo’ classes to get them ready for the tournament.
