There are many non-profit organizations in Rio de Janeiro that teach jiu-jitsu to people in the troubled communities of the favelas. These low-income neighborhoods suffer from many problems, such as widespread drug use, low employment, crime, broken families and more.
There are a growing number of teachers who are using jiu-jitsu as a vehicle for change and are teaching the arte suave to children in the hope of enriching and empowering their lives.
These projects exist across the city, and Connection Rio maintains relationships and supports the good work of a number of these initiatives. Many people enquire with us about how they can help the projects, from donations to providing training equipment.
We also arrange visits to a number of these projects so people can see the work in action and the positive effects it has had one the people who live there.
From training and accommodation to academy visits and special tours, and even small group classes with the best teachers Rio has to offer, Connection Rio offers everything you need for the perfect jiu-jitsu holiday!
