Are you a gringo in Rio de Janeiro and do you want to train Brazilian jiu-jitsu? There are many gyms in Rio, and you can find great training across the city. But if you don’t speak Portuguese or you’re a beginner in the arte suave, you might find it difficult to get started.
Connection Rio offers FREE regular jiu-jitsu classes to guests staying with us. Taught by Connection Rio founder and BJJ black belt Dennis Asche, who first came to Brazil from America in 2003, these classes suit all levels and are held three times a week only 30 seconds walk away from the Connection Rio house.

The classes feature plenty of technique, drilling and free training, allowing you to develop every aspect of your game. For when a competition nears, Dennis adjusts the tempo of the session to make it a good conditioning workout also.
