One of the most popular local attractions for people staying at the Connection Rio house is to climb the nearby Pedra da Gavea, a mountain with stunning views of the city.
Pedra da Gavea is a rocky monolith in Rio de Janeiro that extends over 800m into the sky. It takes abou 2 hours to summit depending on fitness levels, and provides some of the most amazing views anywhere in the city. The climb is challenging and not recommended for people unprepared (good shoes are a must) and should never be attempted in bad weather.
If you’ve wondered what the experience is like, check out this video made by film maker Stuart Cooper, who stayed at Connection Rio in late 2011.
