Rio de Janeiro being the cradle of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is always host to many BJJ competitions and this month is no acception. The FJJD-Rio (Federacao de Jiu-jitsu Desportivo do Rio de Janeiro) and FJJ-Rio (Federacao de Jiu-jitsu do estado do Rio de Janeiro) will host three championships. First FJJ-Rio’s IV Copa Carlson Gracie and Ryan Gracie Sem-Kimono on August 11th, then the FJJD-Rio’s 3rd step of Rio state ranking for 2012 on August 18th & 19th, followed by the RISC 2012 (Rio International Submission Cup) on August 24th.

Carlson Gracie and Ryan Gracie Sem-Kimono championship taking place on the 11th has over 1000 registered competitors and will have a guest visit from Carson Jr. who brings the Carlson team to represent in honor of his father the late Carlson Gracie Sr.

FJJD-Rio is sure to be graced with the likes of master Sylvio Behring, Pride FC veteran Carlos Barreto and a lineup of good competition.

Even if competing is not on your agenda for the Brazil trip make time to show up and watch the competitions.
