Q?

Do I have to train at a specific academy?

A.

No, you are free to choose to train wherever you want. We have excellent links to a number of nearby academies, such as Gordo’s and Gracie Barra. We are close to major traffic hubs that connect you to the city and many gyms are available only a bus ride away.

Q?

Does traveling to Brazil require a visa?

A.

If you are not a Brazilian citizen with a national passport, check with the Brazilian Consulate to find out what the requirements are in your country. Here is a list of visa exempt countries.

Q?

How long can I “legally” stay in Brazil?

A.

Generally a tourist visa will allow a foreigner 90 days entry. This 90-day entry can be extended to 180 days with the Federal Police at GIG airport here in Rio de Janeiro.

Q?

How do I get from the airport to the Connection Rio HQ?

A.

If you want us to arrange an airport pickup be sure to email us requesting a taxi. Send your exact itinerary before you depart.

Q?

Will I be able to use my ATM card in bank machines and stores/restaurants in Rio?

A.

The majority of banks accept foreign cards (e.g. visa/maestro) as do the stores and restaurants. Be sure to notify your bank that you are travelling to Brazil and bring a small amount of currency for your arrival.

Q?

How much money will I need?

A.

That’s not something we can answer. A budget of around R$50/day is a good starting point for the basics such as food and getting around (take a look at prices of the nearby supermarket here). We occasionally hold special events for guests for a small individual fee. The costs of BBQs at the house are usually split evenly between all participating guests. Training costs vary from academy to academy, email us for more info.

Q?

Are training or food included with standard room rates?

A.

Training is not included with standard room rates; however Connection Rio will be happy to put together a complete package for you. Food is not included with room rates – there are self-catering facilities available plus many nearby stores, supermarkets, cafes and restaurants.
